as a new stylist I think when you have a client, that communicating with your client in the consultation, clarifying what your client is trying to communicate to you, and you to the client is number one. 

 

when a new stylist does not have a client, I feel the stylist should make the most of the enviroment they are working in, as long as the other stylists are agreeable, the new stylist should be watching and learning from the other stylist absorbing as much as possible

I agree with you Tabitha, however consultation should be added to a primary focus of a  new stylist, so that the stylist has a clear concise image of what their clients would like to achieve,l

I have a question!! Tabatha wish you could have come to my salon, I just closed a week ago!! I live in Pa and how can we go about changing laws about booth rental I think its ridiculous we have to have employees rather than subs after paying overhead employee taxes, prof liability, unemployment comp, and workmans comp there is nothing left!!!!

*Please don't use my name... Can you be paid, just commission? Even if the percentage that you make doesn't add up to minimum wage? If you make just commission should you be forced to do employee tasks such as cleaning the salon, and should you have to work a certain amount of hours a week? Or since you aren't being paid to be there should you be able to come and go as you please?
